Protest at National Tissue

Workers Subjected to Exploitation and Discrimination at National Tissue

by Youssef Sawan 6:21pm Fri Jun 28 '02

In Cudahy, WI, workers of the company National Tissue are in a struggle to join the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE). Since the syndic election on February 15th, which ended in a tie, various workers were harrassed and discriminated against for their actions to support the syndicate. Also, 28 workers were fired, supposedly for their Social Security cards.

This is illegal, and the workers placed these charges in the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for unjust practices in National Tissue.

On Wednesday, Voces de la Frontera along with UE organized a protest in front of the company. About 40 people joined the protest demanding justice for the 28 fired workers.
